Capsule Geology

The showing occurs within the Buttle Lake uplift in an area underlain by rocks of the Paleozoic Sicker Group. The geology of the uplift has recently undergone revision and the stratigraphy has been reassigned to several new formations of a redefined Sicker Group and the Buttle Lake Group (formerly the upper part of the Sicker Group), (Juras, 1987; Massey, Personal Communication, 1990). Refer to the H-W deposit (092F 330) for a summary of the revised interpretation.

The property rocks are described as tuffs, breccias, agglomerates and andesitic flows. These are intruded by andesitic and diabase dykes. A series of parallel to subparallel shears strike in a northwest direction and dip mainly to the north. One vertical shear strikes from 130 to 140 degrees and contains minor chalcopyrite in a quartz sericite schist.
